INSTITUUT KEIZER

Education

/// PROJECT & BRIEF

Instituut Keizer offers homework assistance and tutoring to primary and secondary school students. Their name is derived from their first location, the Amsterdam’s Keizersgracht, which literally means ‘Emperor’s Canal’.
Commissioned by DsignMarking, we delivered a brand architecture for the institute that appeals both to the students as to their parents, conveying reliability and a certain authority in a contemporary, youthful way.

/// IDEA

The acronym of Instituut Keizer is ‘IK’, which means ‘I’ or ‘Me’ on English. The student is central to the philosophy of the institute. When these two letters are rotated counter clockwise they form an emperor’s crown – a subtle reference to the institute’s location and, with a wink, the crown on the student’s (home)work.
